Intelligence with sensitivity - this is how the André Jordan Group leads its projects, aligning them with the community and the surrounding natural environment, even before the word “sustainability” was part of business vocabulary.
For decades, the André Jordan Group has gone far beyond strict legal compliance, working with profound respect for individuals and for Nature. There are many examples. At Quinta do Lago, every tree was inventoried, and the development was designed without external walls, opening to the community and encouraging a true neighbourhood spirit. Located within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the implementation of Quinta do Lago carefully respected the balance of a delicate ecosystem with more than 300 bird species, including rare purple swamphens and flamingos.
The Vilamoura XXI project also stood out for environmental quality, earning praise in an OECD Environmental Performance Review for Portugal. This report highlights, for example, the creation of the Vilamoura Environmental Park, with facilities such as the Centre for Nature and Environmental Studies, preserving biodiversity and opening new bird-watching trails.
Golf-course management has always focused on resource efficiency and savings, and the Group pioneered rigorous criteria for water reuse. At Belas Clube de Campo, golf course irrigation uses water from two of the four lakes which collect rainwater, as a complement.
At Belas Clube de Campo, Portugal’s first “solar neighbourhood” was created in 2020 - a collective self-consumption community powered by renewables, harnessing the energy of the sun. Belas Clube de Campo has become a benchmark for environmental commitment through careful waste and resource management, and also through community support - fundraising for firefighters, care homes and other local institutions, and hosting charity golf tournaments.
Set within the Serra da Carregueira Forest Park - one of Sintra’s largest green areas - Belas Clube de Campo offers free-access paths and trails, where visitors can enjoy groves of pines, cork oaks and oaks - a unique biodiversity just outside Lisbon.
