Championing major events

Tourism does not flourish without culture.

Tourism cannot thrive without culture and without events that bring dynamism to the regions. The André Jordan Group has long supported cultural activities that enrich regions and their populations.

Short after launching Quinta do Lago, André Jordan created the Algarve International Music Festival in 1973, sponsored by the resort - an event that continues today. Years later, during the regeneration of Vilamoura XXI, the André Jordan Group invested in the Cerro da Vila Roman ruins, creating a museum project with IPPAR - a new cultural venue to protect the region’s historical heritage.

Cultural patronage to care, unite and inspire

André Jordan helped found the Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa, having secured key sponsorships for the creation of the orchestra. He was driven not only by culture as a powerful vehicle for promoting his developments - André Jordan had a genuine love for arts, and his companies sponsored exhibitions, public art sculptures, and concerts. André Jordan was a patron and Board member of the Rio de Janeiro Museum of Modern Art, and was a founding patron of the Serralves Foundation, contributing to its annual fund and mid- and long-term planning. Between 2010 and 2013, he also sat on the Board of Directors of the Serralves Foundation.

He was a patron and honorary member of the São Paulo Museum of Art, with which the André Jordan Group has had a decades-long relationship – already in the 1950s, under Henryk Spitzman Jordan’s leadership, donating works by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. With the Group’s support, a 2.5-metre bronze statue of Frédéric Chopin by August Zamoyski was unveiled in Rio de Janeiro in 1944. In 2016, the André Jordan Group funded the Monument to the Polish Envoys in Estoril, by sculptor Karol Badyna, honouring three men who fought against the terror of war. The André Jordan Group also supported the World Monuments Fund, an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to the preserving historical and cultural heritage. As part of this commitment, it contributed, for example, to the restoration of the lead sculptures at the Palace of Queluz.

Alongside culture, the André Jordan Group has promoted major sporting events. Several editions of the Portugal open were hosted at Quinta do Lago golf courses, and Victoria Clube de Golfe in Vilamoura hosted the World Cup, one of the most renowned tournaments worldwide, in 2025.

Numerous tournaments have been held at Belas Clube de Campo, notably the Seniors Open organised by the European Tour. The André Jordan Group also created the President of the Republic Cup, a charity golf event under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic. Over the years, various sailing competitions and regattas at Vilamoura Marina have drawn large crowds.
